A wide variety of educational and recreational opportunities await youths at Eglin. The professional caretakers and the learning centers combine to create an atmosphere conducive to healthy child development.
Educating Children: Rest assured that better-than-adequate schooling is available for children. A vast network of schools, with bus transportation on and off base, is available in the local area. The Eglin area has pre-school, elementary, middle high school, undergraduate, and graduate education opportunities, as well as private religious and secular schools, schools for gifted children and special training for the mentally handicapped. Oak Hill and Cherokee Elementary Schools are located on Eglin Main in the base housing area, for children in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Child Development Center: Eglin's Child Development Center (CDC), located on Gaffney Road, is available for child care. The center is open Monday through Friday and special opening requests will be considered for weekend functions. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Youth Activities Eglin's Youth Center is one of the largest in the Air Force. The center provides an extensive activity program for youth.
